KACS wishes to recruit volunteers as follows:

US citizenship instructor: As KACS helps over 200 people attain the US citizenship, the instructor can prepare these applicants to study US history, constitution, and conduct mock citizenship interviews. A retired teacher may be ideal to teach this class, and KACS will provide teaching materials. This is two hours a week on the average, and a commitment of 80 hours a year for four 10-week terms.

Smart phone instructor for senior citizens: Korean seniors in senior housing, mostly in their 80’s, are digitally divided very severely. Their adult children bought them smart phones, but many of them struggle with basic operation and regret that they switched from flip phones. This is an ideal volunteer opportunity for retired engineers or teachers. This is two hours a week on the average, and a commitment of 80 hours a year for four 10-week terms.

IT instructor: KACS teaches computer classes in both the Chicago and Prospect Heights offices. We teach the whole array of classes from basic computer skills, Words, and Excel to photoshop and website design. This may be a volunteer opportunity for anyone who enjoys IT and teaching, and who has a commitment to address the digital divide in our community. This is two hours a week on the average, and a commitment of 80 hours a year for four 10-week terms.
