Function: Ø Under
the general supervision of the site director, social service worker provides
social services in all its many aspects to the children and their families
enrolled in the Head Start (Reverse Collaboration) Centers to which the
children are assigned. Also, responsible for coordinating supportive services,
health, mental health, disabilities as outlined by the Head Star performance
standards and parent involvement Responsibilities: Ø Participating
in the planning, development and implementation of center component plans
developed with the Head Start performance standards Ø Assures
completing and maintenance of family assessment data( HSFIS) ·
Completes
family history during intake interview for all families ·
Maintains
narrative and statistical records on individual contacts with children and
families including enrollment records ·
Makes
appropriate referrals to professional services providers
Ø Conducts
home visits or interviews with parents at the center ·
Assists
in the identification of children with special problems and needs ·
Assists
parents in referrals to clinics and other services if indicated and accompany
parents and children to clinics when necessary ·
Recommends
intervention plans and goals for families served
Ø Responsible
for the safety and well being of program participants and others ·
Take
necessary actions in the events of emergencies in accordance to policies and
procedures
Ø Coordinates
parents’ activities and programs ·
Plans
and attends all parent meetings and workshops ·
Assists
parent group officers in coordinating and implementing programs for parent
meetings and special projects ·
Tracks
and submits data/reports particular to parent involvement participation
and hours
Ø Performs
administrative and related tasks assigned by director ·
Attends
internal and external professional development and training sessions
Ø Conducts
continuous evaluation of effectiveness of services to children and their
families including enrollment records Ø Consults
with teaching staff in helping them to understand the total child and his or
her relationship to his or her total environment Position
Qualification: Ø Master’s
degree in social work or related social sciences, plus 2 years of social
services experiences or related experiences with children and family; or BSW
with extensive Head Start experiences |
